Linkcity and Crosstree Secure Funding for Expansive Student Accommodation Project in London’s Hallsville Quarter

In a significant milestone for urban development in London’s East End, Bouygues’ development arm, Linkcity, in collaboration with Crosstree Real Estate, has finalized financial arrangements to embark on a transformative purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) project in Canning Town.

Dubbed as phase 4 of the extensive €702 million Hallsville Quarter regeneration initiative, this venture marks a pivotal step towards revitalizing the urban landscape and meeting the evolving needs of the community. The ambitious project, meticulously crafted by PRP Architects, will encompass 375 state-of-the-art student accommodation units, setting a new benchmark for contemporary living in the heart of East London.

Bouygues UK, renowned for its commitment to sustainability and innovation, will spearhead construction efforts as the main contractor. Embracing a low-carbon ethos and striving for BREEAM Excellent certification, the project aligns with Bouygues’ ethos of responsible development and environmental stewardship.

The culmination of phase 4 signals a significant progression within the overarching Hallsville Quarter masterplan—an ambitious urban renewal initiative poised to redefine the fabric of Canning Town. Scheduled for completion in the summer of 2026, just in time for the 2026/2027 academic year, the development is set to catalyze economic growth, enhance community infrastructure, and foster a vibrant living environment for residents and students alike.

The broader Hallsville Quarter redevelopment, of which phase 4 is the penultimate installment, encompasses a multifaceted array of residential, commercial, and leisure amenities. Upon its completion, the Quarter will boast over 1,100 private and affordable residences, over 30,000 square meters of leisure and retail space, and a cutting-edge hotel, all strategically positioned opposite the bustling Canning Town underground station.

Reflecting on the project’s significance, Oliver Campbell, Development Director of Linkcity, expressed enthusiasm for the venture’s commencement, stating, “This marks a pivotal moment as we finalize the financial arrangements for the fourth phase of the Hallsville Quarter masterplan and initiate construction activities on site.”

As construction gears into motion, stakeholders anticipate a transformative journey ahead, one that underscores the collaborative efforts of industry leaders in shaping a dynamic, sustainable urban landscape that meets the diverse needs of residents and students, while enriching the fabric of East London’s vibrant community.
